Many children and teens in the U.S. have some sort of orthodontics to correct problems such as crooked teeth, spacing, crowding, and malocclusion. However, adult braces are rapidly becoming popular too. Many people defer braces because they think of metal wires and brackets. Dr. Moser gives you another option called Invisalign. Invisalign is called “invisible braces” because of a manufactured system of clear, computer generated aligners. These clear aligners are used in series to gradually move your teeth. These aligners are unnoticeable at conversational distances.
Dr. Moser will recommend Invislign to patients to correct crooked teeth, spacing, crowded teeth, and rotated teeth, but also functional reasons too. A patients bite can be corrected to alleviate frequencies of headaches, gum disease, bad breath, and allow easier brushing and flossing.
The procedure can take anywhere from 6-24 months. The patient is seen once a month during treatment and given 2 aligners at each visit. Each aligner is worn for 2 weeks. At the end of the treatment, Dr. Moser will make retainers for the patient to ensure the teeth remain in the ideal postion. The most important factors for Invisalign treatment is patient compliance wearing the aligners and proper oral hygiene.
